Of course, there is no doubt that NIT Trichy is one of the oldest and best NITs. It is closely followed by NIT Surathkal. However, when a particular branch is in question, the choice does vary.

highly reputed…they all are tied for no. one spot and are
WAY ahead of the rest of the nits
if you really want to rank them then nit w will be slightly ahead
because of excellent placements and a very improved campus

but if u really wanna compare, nit warangal and trichy have equally
good placements and are better than the rest

Since it is a straight fwd question , will give a straight fwd
ans. In a very neutral , unbiased sory of way , it should be
NIT Trichy . There are 2 aspects:
1. Perception: Industry , US universities,IIMs, Engg . Aspirants
and general populace sees NIT , Trichy as
a very marquee brand.
2. Actuals: Well, i think the 4 years that folks spend in a campus
away from the 'diversions' of city life , yet having the
completeness of cross cultural inclusion added with a lot of raw
brain potential, promotes acute Intellectualism and therefore the
highest ambition within the student community. Added to that , the
very serene, peace loving , low profile, high thinking ,
educationally forward Tamilian ethos ( I am a Bengali , by the way)
adds a very subtle academic ambience for students NITTians which is
of great help for staying focussed. Success follows…
